Micro-level Management Plan

Micro-level Management Plan

Micro Level Aquifer Management Plans (MLMP) envisaged as groundwater management plan based on aquifer dispositionfor village / Gram Panchayat .The idea of MLMP is to prepare implementable groundwater management plan by proposing demand side and supply side interventions at panchayat and village level that can be taken up by the state agencies / inhabitants to improve groundwater conditions / sustainable management of groundwater resource at local level.

Selection of the Panchayat / village can be done on the basis of the stage of ground water development, ground water contamination profile, ground water development prospects including requests of the State Agencies to address any specific ground water related problems. A comprehensive assessment of the various activities under different schemes like MGNREGA, Watershed Development, PMKSY etc in these Panchayats having direct/indirect impact on ground water resources may also be included with a view to suggest measures for improvement in its overall impact.

Further, the report prepared on Micro-levelAquifer map and Management plan isalso to be shared with the State Agencies for its suitable implementation. These management plans will guide the State agencies at local level about groundwater regime and help in taking suitable measure to improve the groundwater situation.

There is also need to interact with stake holders/ PRIs/communities to provide them knowledge on the Aquifer map and management plan.It is decided that Public Interaction Programmes will be organized in those villages/Panchayatsfor which Micro-Levelaquifer map &management plans are being prepared.
